Overview

Year after year, nearly 600 people die in New Jersey as a result of motor vehicle-related crashes. About one-third of these deaths are adults and children walking or riding their bikes. The number of pedestrian deaths this year is already set to exceed that of previous years. We can and must save lives and prevent injuries on NJ roadways.

The Vision Zero New Jersey Alliance, comprised of individuals from various safety organizations, is committed to eliminating all deaths and severe injuries on our roadways through an equitable, data-driven process.

We urge New Jersey legislators to:

  • Pass a Vision Zero Policy for NJ in the 2020-2021 legislative session with a goal of eliminating all traffic deaths by 2030

  • Create a Vision Zero Task Force comprised of a variety of state agencies, stakeholders, and advocates who can forge a data-driven plan to bring NJ’s number of vehicular deaths to zero.

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to achieve zero deaths on our roadways by 2030.

  • Support design, engineering and construction that consistently puts the lives of New Jerseyians first.

I Support Vision Zero in New Jersey:

  • I believe zero deaths and serious injuries on New Jersey roadways is a goal that's attainable and just

  • I urge the State to enact a statewide policy to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on our roads because ZERO is the only acceptable number
